Punat

In one of the most protected bays on the Adriatic Sea, a paradise for sailors and surfers, in Puntarska draga on the southern side of the island of Krk, between the blue sea and sunlit olive groves, is the small town of Punat.

Events of Punat

As one of the younger island settlements (first written data from 1377), Punat is marked by the architecture of a coastal town, with characteristic vaults, bars and squares Vela and Mala placa, as the former center of the town. The development of Punta expanded the old core with new buildings surrounded by gardens, olive groves and landscaped green areas that exude the scent of Mediterranean vegetation.

It is unthinkable to talk about Punt and not mention the islet of Košljun at the same time.
Because Punat and Košljun have been directed towards each other for centuries, the life of the friars – Franciscans and Puntars – is permeated with each other. Every visitor definitely wants to visit Košljun, which is made possible by taxi boats that constantly maintain a 10-minute ride from Punt to Košljun and back. There is a Franciscan monastery on the islet (Benedictine until the 15th century), and the islet itself is a nature park with more than 400 species of plants and a gem of cultural heritage with a valuable ethnographic collection and a library with more than 30,000 titles, some of which are real rarities. The Košlnu museum has an interesting natural history and numismatic collection, as well as a very rich sacred collection.

One of the largest and certainly the oldest marinas on the Croatian coast, MARINA PUNAT, is located in the naturally protected Puntarska Draga. Growing out of the tradition of wooden shipbuilding in Punt, the marina began operations in 1964. years. Today, it proudly boasts that it is one of the largest and most equipped marinas on the Adriatic. Since 1996 At the entrance to the marina, the Blue Flag is displayed as a proof of quality, and the same is confirmed by the ISO standard certificate. The capacity of the marina is about 850 berths in the sea and 500 on land. Boats flying flags from all over the world are stored here, and business owners provide a wide range of services that will satisfy even the most demanding guests, from boat purchase, maintenance, painting, service, nautical equipment trade, market, rental, to cleaning and polishing.

In the promotion of Punta, along with the famous marina and the islet of Košljuna, the high-quality “extra virgin” olive oil from Punta certainly stands out. It is one of the important products that complete the tourist offer, and through the “Olive Days” event, as a gastronomic and economic project, it is becoming more and more appreciated.

Punat, and especially Stara Baška, is known for its natural beaches, which are located in the immediate vicinity of the town or which can only be reached by boat. It is a unique experience to enjoy pure nature on intimate sandy beaches and clear sea.

A stay in a pleasant environment remains for a long time, as a fond memory. The landscaped environment, with lots of greenery and the smell of the sea, along with the homely atmosphere in Punt, will ensure that your stay remains a fond memory. The already traditional hospitality of Puntar guarantees that, along with the pleasure of staying here, you will meet a dear person and make a new friend.
