DESCRIPTION:Crna Ovca is a unique festival of lamb\, individualism\, island heritage\, culture\, and sports that has been held in Baška on the island of Krk since 2006. Every year\, on the third weekend of May\, the streets of Baška fill with the aromas of lamb dishes\, music\, sports competitions\, and numerous cultural programs celebrating the island way of life. \nAt the heart of the festival is Baška lamb\, a recognizable local product that can be tasted everywhere during the festival—from classic lamb roasted on a spit to traditional dishes such as žgvacet with šurlice\, as well as modern interpretations prepared by Baška’s restaurants and taverns. Through this gastronomic story\, Crna Ovca celebrates local flavors and the people who create them. \nThe festival program features concerts\, exhibitions\, lectures\, creative workshops\, sports and outdoor events\, and a variety of cultural activities\, turning Baška into a vibrant meeting place for visitors from Croatia and abroad for one weekend. A relaxed atmosphere\, excellent food\, and diverse events have made Crna Ovca the most recognizable spring event on the island of Krk for nearly two decades. \nCrna Ovca is the holder of the “Croatian Island Product” label\, an award granted by the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds to island products\, events\, and initiatives that contribute to preserving tradition\, promoting island identity\, and supporting sustainable development. DESCRIPTION:The sixth Krk Etno Fest: Pul Kaštela is coming to Vesna Pisarović\, Balkalar\, Vuk and the Association of Sopaca and Kantura of the Island of Krk\n\nThe sixth edition of the Krk Etno Fest: Pul Kaštela brings another cultural and musical program to two beautiful locations: Kamplin Square and Frankopan Castle.\n\nVesna Pisarović and Balkalar \n\nOn Saturday\, 16.05. in Frankopan Castle\, the audience will be able to enjoy the promotion of Vesna Pisarović's acclaimed album "Poravna". The album\, published by PDV\, is exactly like a "poravna song" - it also represents a metaphor for the entire musical genre of sevdalinka\, in the sense of long\, drawn-out\, and ornamental melodies\, traditionally sung without accompaniment or with a minimal number of instruments (e.g. only with saz or šargija).\n\nAfter a dramatic turn in her professional career and opening up to jazz and improvised musical idioms\, Vesna Pisarović has collaborated with many artists\, and she comes to Krk with a band composed of top world musicians. On drums is one of the most creative and adventurous Australian drummers\, Tony Buck\, while the guitar is played by French guitarist and improviser Noel Akchoté.\n\nThis year's edition of Krk Etno Fest: Pul Kaštela will be closed by the ethno/gypsy band Balkalar. They are not just another musical group\, but also a cultural revolution that bridges generational differences and breaks down prejudices about traditional Balkan music as outdated. They practically act as ambassadors\, presenting the rich sonic heritage of the Balkans through vivid\, witty and immersive performances\, dedicated to international collaboration\, strong artistic identity and constant musical innovation.\n\n\nTradition and Heritage\n\nOn Friday\, May 29th\, at Kamplin Square\, members of the Association of Sopaci and Kanturi of the Island of Krk will show their rich heritage through traditional songs.\n\nThe association\, which has been active for over 30 years\, will present all the beauties of the kanta through its performance\, and thus the preservation of the island's tradition. Visitors will be able to enjoy the costumes\, the kanta\, but also see and hear the sound of the old musical instrument sopile. This year's performance will also feature special guests; Mario Mužić\, a sopec player from Orleč on a bellows and Dario Kučić\, a sopec player from Nerezina on a bellows.\n\nVuk\, Domagoj Vuković\, a classical guitar graduate\, is also preparing his premiere performance in Krk. The guitar is his main instrument\, but he is also a multi-instrumentalist: the farkaš tambura\, framedrum\, lijerica\, samica and other tambourines are also part of his musical expression.\n\nIn addition to the above instruments\, Vuk also uses singing in different styles: ‘classical’ singing and throat singing (Mongolia\, Tuva). He incorporates all of the above through his original compositions based on Slavic mythology and its heritage in Croatia.\n\nIn case of bad weather\, the program will be held in the city hall / cinema Krk!\n\nTICKETS\n\nEntrance on the first day of the festival is free\, while the ticket price for the second day in advance is 10.00 euros\, and on the day of the concert the price increases to 13.00 euros. The points of sale are the Core Event system and Dallas music shop Rijeka.\n\nConvenience for local residents: on the day of the concert\, tickets can be purchased at the advance price at the entrance to the castle.\n\nChairs for the audience are provided for both days\, and the capacity is 100 pieces.\n\nThe festival is partially co-financed by: the City of Krk\, the Ministry of Culture and Media\, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County\, HUZIP and the Kultura nova Foundation.\n\nThe joint organization is signed by Distune promotion and Kreativni Krk\n

DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, May 16\, 2026\, the town of Krk will host Musikverein Koglhof from the Austrian region of Styria\, who will perform a concert at Vela placa as part of their visit to the island of Krk. The concert will begin at 8:00 PM. \nThe guests will be welcomed by the Krk Town Band\, and the audience will have the opportunity to enjoy both an independent performance by the Austrian musicians and a joint performance of several marches together with the local town band. \nThe Krk Town Band\, one of the oldest musical associations of its kind in Croatia\, has been active since 1832 and\, throughout its long history\, has established itself as an important promoter of amateur musical creativity in the town and on the island of Krk. \nMusikverein Koglhof brings together around fifty active members of different generations\, united by their love of music and shared music-making. \nWe invite all lovers of brass music and good atmosphere to join us at Vela placa and enjoy an evening filled with music\, socialising\, and friendship. \nAdmission to the event is free. \n  \n

During the programme\, visitors are guided by a professional guide through the history\, heritage and everyday life of Malinska\, with stops at carefully selected locations where they can taste authentic flavours of the island of Krk. This experience connects nature\, culture and gastronomy in a relaxed way\, allowing visitors to discover the destination with all their senses. \nThe aim of the project is to organise interpretive walks combined with tastings of local specialties\, promote traditional dishes and ingredients prepared by Malinska’s restaurants\, and raise awareness of the quality and diversity of Kvarner wines. DESCRIPTION:A poet from Rijeka (living in Mošćenička Draga)\, author of ten books of poetry\, two monographs\, one biography and a number of travelogues and tourist catalogues\, member of the Croatian Writers’ Association\, traveler and journalist\, organizer of the cultural summer of Mošćenička Draga and its surroundings\, performer and musician. For several years (since 2012) he has been creating and performing with his Midnight blues band consisting of Dejan Turk on drums\, Marko Sedlak on guitar\, Vedran Mijić on bass guitar\, Josip Rubinić on trumpet\, Mauro Staraj as a frequent guest on keyboards\, Dean Černeka – video art. Their concerts are an excellent blend of half-sung expressive poetry\, blues\, rock and jazz\, all spiced up with video art and photographs by Dean Černeka. In addition to their original works\, they also play blues standards by the Doors\, Muddy Waters\, Blues Brothers\, Tom Waits\, John Lee Hooker\, Stones\, etc. Numerous performances at the Opatija Summer Stage (small stage)\, Rijeka (Filodramatica\, Tunel club\, Caffe bar Nad urom\, Arca Fiumana ship\, River Pub\, Trsat)\, Zagreb\, as well as Slovenia and northern Italy\, Slovakia and the Czech Republic\, testify to the quality of this project.
