Opening of the exhibition “First on the Adriatic” and the launching of the wooden boat “Jaruška”
05 Jul

It was created thanks to the cooperation of the Crikvenica City Museum and the Croatian Maritime Museum Split, and it focuses on the beginnings of ferry transport on the Crikvenica – Šilo line on the island of Krk. The line was maintained by the legendary ferry Bodulka, which is remembered by all older Crikvenica residents and islanders. As the first on the Adriatic, Bodulka “sailed” into the history not only of Crikvenica, but also of Croatian transport in general.

In addition to the ferry line, the exhibition also focuses on the general development of the Crikvenica port, steamship lines that were the main connections of coastal settlements before the advent of ferries, but also the historical orientation of the Crikvenica residents to the eastern coast of the island of Krk, which influenced the founding of the town of Šilo and ultimately the construction of the Krk Bridge. The exhibition also covers the contemporary segment of the maritime heritage of Crikvenica and Šilo, which has often been neglected so far.

The curators of the exhibition are Tea Rosić (Crikvenica City Museum) and Ljubomir Radić (Croatian Maritime Museum Split)

The exhibition is open daily from 6 pm to 10 pm.
